Behind the screen.

The outline, the light and the space we leave for imagination.

A flat figure is enough for us to imagine a whole person. The outline becomes posture. A joint becomes movement. The light behind the screen lends depth to something that, held in your hand, is barely thick at all.

In shadow theatre, the space around the figure is part of the image. It leaves room for the voice, the gesture and the anticipation of what comes next. The form does not need to explain everything.

Looking at the figure in our visual archive, we notice the interruptions: where a joint opens, where a line suddenly changes direction. These details make an object seem alive, even when it remains still.

Connecting with the Greek experience can begin with a detail like this. With a shape we remember, a gesture we recognise, an image that makes us pause a little longer.
