A chair, a conversation.

Simple objects bring us together. An invitation to stay a little longer.

A chair is pulled a little farther from the table. A seat turns towards the group. Before the conversation begins, the objects have already made the first move. They define distances, open a little space for one more person, give us a reason to stop.

We like to look at a chair as a small piece of architecture. The legs carry the weight. The back gives direction. The seat is where the structure meets the body. A small change in an angle or a curve is enough to make you feel different.

In our reading of everyday Greek life, a chair is also an invitation. Come, sit down. There is time for one more story. Sometimes all it takes is two seats turning towards each other for an encounter to happen.

Kafeneio begins with this simple observation. A familiar form leaves its usual setting and becomes a drawing. The conversation continues, in another way.
